Lesson Learned: Part 1

Beautiful day today. Periodically overcast which made it perfect for weeding. The garlic leaves are up about 5 inches, but that's all that has sprouted. The 9 broccoli plants all have one new leaf. Woo-hoo. From the seeds planted last Monday, I only saw 3 spinach sprouts, but it has only been 8 days. Patience.

I've decided to clear out the patch of earth next to the driveway as a little kitchen garden. Risky business with the basketball goal right in the middle of things. I'm counting on little hoop action as the temperature climbs.

So, what lesson did I learn today? I labeled the milk jug greenhouses with a Sharpie. Very smart. Permanent marker, or so I thought. As I checked on them today, I realized I could barely read any of the labels. Permanent only goes so far on plastic when exposed to sun and rain. For now I've rewritten the labels on an unexposed surface. Wonder how long they will last.
